Grants Guidelines |
Please read the following guidelines carefully before downloading the REGULAR GRANT APPLICATION
- For your project to qualify for a grant, your Society must:
- Operate within the boundaries of the Shuswap area of the Columbia Shuswap Regional District
- Be a registered charity (i.e., have a CRA number: BN ---- ----- RR000-).
- Your project must contribute to the well-being of residents of the Shuswap in an area such as:
- Education
- Health
- Amateur sports
- Arts and cultural activities
- Heritage (land or buildings of historic or environmental significance)
- Social programs
- Animal welfare
- The Foundation will not support projects of a partisan religious or political nature.

- The Foundation does not normally fund ongoing operations. Grants are intended to be one time and should support projects that can be completed and evaluated within a reasonable period. When capital projects are involved, the Foundation reserves the right to approve the project, but not advance funds until invoices are received. A final report or evaluation must be submitted to the Foundation for the Society to be eligible for future grants.

- The Foundation will not fund projects already completed, nor may grants be used to retire debt.
NOTE:
- A letter of intent to apply for funding is strongly encouraged. The letter, (email is preferred if possible), may be submitted at any time. It assists both the potential grantee organization and Shuswap Community Foundation to insure that basic funding guidelines are being met prior to submitting a complete grant application. The letter should include the name of your charity and registered charity number, a contact name, phone number, email address (if possible), and a concise paragraph-long description of your project. If the Grant Selection Committee has questions, you will be contacted.
- A completed grant application form should be postmarked no later than June 15th.
- Grants will be disbursed in September of each year.
If you have any questions about your project’s eligibility, please contact the Foundation.
